DESCRIPTION:
This car is all original right down to the wheel covers. My son bought it with the idea of restoring it but ran into personal difficulties and never got around to it. I bought it from him. My son and I have owned this car for abour 8 years, and I think we probably didnt put a 1,000 miles on it. There was two prior owners before my son, the original owner and the fellow my son bought it from. The second owner used to belong to the classic car club here in this area and showed it at car shows. The chrome and paint are in pretty good condition other than the defects I have previously stated. It has the big 400 V8 Cleveland engine with a two barrel carb, automatic Transmission. The air conditioner doesnt work. There is a slow transmission fluid leak and I think it is from around the seal, because the owner prior to my son said they had changed the filter in the trasmission and probably didnt get the seal right. The body is real solid. The underneath is in good condition and the doors do not sag but close real snug and tight. The exhaust system which is factory duals right off the headers need work especially on the drivers side. The tires are just ordinary and different brands. The inside is all original in green. I just put in a new battery [Gold] and it started right up. It has just AM radio that works fine. All windows hand roll up and down. The bench seat in the front has damage where the driver sets. It has split and been repaired and split again. There is a small V tear in the headliner above passenger side. The rest of the interior is in real good condition. This car is 19 feet long and rides really good. This car has been in storage for the last three years and not driven. It has been started occasionaly and doesnt smoke or use oil. It is from the Lincoln-Ford Motor division of that time. It is built like a tank, super solid. There was only around 89,000 of this model produced according to the information I found and this model is getting hard to find. I havent seen one on Ebay for a long time and the last I did see wasnt this type model. 1974 was the last year for the Monterey and in 1975 they came out with the Grande Marquis model to replace the Monterey. This car is a head-turner when youre driving it. This car could be driven from here by the new owner, but I would rather see it delivered by a car hauler. This is a great restoration project for someone as there is a lot here to work with. I am a young 71 years but I have no interests at this time of my life to do a restoration project, so I am offering the car for sale, AS IS with NO RETURN. No International bidders please.
